ENGINEER'S OPERATIONAL RULE

PRACTICAL STANDARD: Always use matched cogged-edge raw-edge belts (XPA/XPB profile) or banded multi-rib belts on inverter drives. Check alignment with dual-beam laser tools, not a steel straightedge.

Symptom Diagnosed: Premature drive belt snapping and excessive black rubber dust inside supply fan chambers within 90 days of replacement.

Belt failure on large supply and extract AHUs causes immediate loss of indoor air quality and tenant complaints. Switching from fixed-speed to variable-speed control alters the harmonic vibration profile across the belt drive assembly.
